Weekly Bulletin 10/23-10/31

Muraoka Families,

We hope you are ready for a busy week at Muraoka! We have many events and spirit days to look forward to! These include our Student Council Red Ribbon Spirit Week, Trunk or Treat and our Costume Parade (10/31)! Please read our weekly bulletin carefully so you have all the details!

Mrs. Mazeau and Mrs. Rayray

Student Council Red Ribbon Spirit Week:

 Red Ribbon History:

Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent. In honor of Kiki’s memory and his battle against illegal drugs, friends and neighbors began to wear red badges of satin. Parents then began to form coalitions using Camrena as their model while embracing his belief that one person can make a difference. These coalitions adopted the symbol of Camarena’s memory the Red Ribbon. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

ELAC Meeting Presentation:

This past Thursday, Mrs. Mazeau and Mrs. Rayray held a parent meeting sponsored by ELAC and reviewed our District sponsored Technology accelerators (Achieve 3000, iReady and Smarty Ants, our school wide instructional focus and gave parents an opportunity to rate thoughts on ThoughtExchange.  Please feel free to review the PowerPoint if you were unable to attend.

Trunk or Treat

We are so excited for our 1st Annual Trunk or Treat Event at Muraoka! Staff Members are decorating cars and passing out candy in our school parking lot of Friday, October 28th from 3:30-5:30. There will also be photo opportunities and story time! This is a walking event, so we recommend you park on surrounding streets or walk to school. While there is no fee to participate in the trick or treating, several grade levels will be selling food and treats.

PTO CANDY DRIVE:

We would love your help making our first Trunk or Treat a success by donating any size bag of candy. Candy can be dropped off in the Candy Monster receptacle located inside the front office. Thank you in advance for your support!
