Parent Bulletin 7/25

Muraoka Families,

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for an incredible start to the school year. It was a joy to see our students and families on campus together again.  We will continue to send a parent bulletin every Sunday with reminders and upcoming events.

We will continue to allow parents to walk their child to their line if it does not begin to pose a safety concern.  Please remember the following:

  • Please keep everything with wheels outside of the front gate
  • Please allow students to eat independently in lunch arbor, parents can stand near fence
  • Please line up behind student lines to keep students visible and to give teachers direct access to their students
  • Please send teachers emails or dojo messages and limit conversations with the teacher as this allows them to return to class quickly to begin their instructional day
  • Please say goodbye to your child at the line and allow only the teacher to lead students to the building
  • Please exit campus as quickly as possible

Kindergarten Arrival: For a smoother, safer arrival, kindergarten students will be lining up outside of our Innovation Center, through our front gates. A separate message has been sent to Kinder parents with protocols, but we would like all families to be aware of this added congestion as Kindergarten parents are required to wait with their child.

Dismissal: If your student is in 3rd-6th grade, we encourage you to create a meeting spot for your child away from the front gate. The school design is slightly flawed as it creates congestion around the dismissal gates, and we would like to make it as safe as possible. Thank you for your support.

Front Office Visits and Calls: This is the busiest time of the year for us in the front office! Thank you for limiting your visits and calls to essential business. Please look to our SchoolDojo, ClassDojo or Muraoka blog for information on release times, schedules, and upcoming events. Thank you in advance for sending your child to school with their lunch/snack/water in hand as we do not have the staff to deliver lunches or water bottles to classrooms throughout the day.

Back to School Night: Wednesday, August 3rd (5pm/5:30pm/6pm) For Grades 1-6 ONLY

Come meet your classroom teacher and learn about the expectations for your new grade level. Presentations will be held inside of classrooms and there are 3 options for you to choose from. Please choose only one time to attend as they will be repeated presentations. This is a parent only event.

PTO Membership: I am sure you have seen our awesome PTO working away to ensure our students, parents and teachers had an amazing start to the year. PTO provided teachers with a welcome back breakfast, provided all signage, balloons, and welcome back snacks at Meet the Teacher. Please consider joining our PTO to ensure that these wonderful services are provided for our students all year long. Please see attachments to join! All forms can be dropped in our PTO box in the front office.

Wellness Policy: Please visit CVESD Wellness Policy to learn more about our District Wellness Policy. Please help us enforce this wellness policy by ensuring your child only has water to drink in class and milk/water/100% juice in their lunchbox.  Thank you for refraining from sending treats such as candy, large bags of chips (snack size with a balanced meal are ok) or large portions of cookies (snack size with a balanced meal are ok). Please know that no food will be taken away from your child, but they may be asked to put item away until afterschool. Thank you for your support.

PLEASE complete and submit the short, simple LCFF Survey, which will ensure that Muraoka receives the maximum amount of funding for our students.  Muraoka’s funding will be severely restricted unless surveys are returned.  PLEASE USE THE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS THE SURVEY THAT TAKES LESS THAN TWO MINUTES TO COMPLETE.

Beginning of the Year Reminders

Dear Muraoka Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We are excited to welcome our returning and new students to our 5th school year! We are very proud of our talented teachers, extraordinary, support staff, amazing volunteers, and the outstanding academic program that we provide to all children. Here are some friendly reminders to get our school year started on the right foot.

Class Lists: Class lists will be posted today, Tuesday July 19th at 1:30 in front of the school. The class lists will remain posted for those families not attending meet the teacher.

Meet the Teacher:  July 19th, 1:30-3:00. Please head through our front gates and look for the designated area for your child’s grade for the upcoming school year. You will have the opportunity to meet your teacher and pick up our Welcome Back to School packet that includes our Bell Schedule.

Covid tests: We will be distributing Covid tests at meet the teacher. We are strongly encouraging students to test prior to coming to school tomorrow and using this link to report a positive test https://forms.office.com/r/Dcbd5R7Qgp If your student does test positive for covid, their spot at Muraoka will be secure and we will be awaiting their return. Please DO NOT notify us of negative tests. Any covid related questions should be directed to covtest4@cvesd.org

School Supplies: CVESD provides all basic supplies for a successful school year. However, your teacher may have an optional supply wish list that you are able to contribute to if you would like. You will receive this information from your classroom teacher.

Arrival: School begins at 8:15 for all students. We typically limit parents on campus as a safety precaution, but we know what a special time this is for our families, and we want you to have the option to walk your child onto campus for the first week of school to help with this transition.

Dismissal: We will continue to dismiss students at the front gates. The gate assignments have not changed. Grades 1, 2, 3 will dismiss from the front gates between the front office and MPR. Grades 4, 5, 6 dismiss from the gate near Kindergarten. Kindergarten families will get more information at their orientation.

PTO: We are so fortunate to have such a supportive parent organization. They will be at Meet the Teacher today selling Muraoka gear.

Wellness Policy: Students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch. For those bringing their own lunch or snacks, please help us enforce the CVESD wellness policy. Please do not send chips, cookies, candy, or sugary drinks with your student to school. Water is the only drink acceptable INSIDE of the classroom. At lunch or at snack there are only 3 approved beverages in CVESD: water, milk or 100% fruit juice.

Classroom Changes: No requests for classroom changes will be entertained the first 3 weeks of school. Please do not call the front office to request a classroom change. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Thank you for your continued support we are thrilled to be receiving your student for the 2022-2023 school year.

Mrs. Mazeau and Mrs. Rayray
